Zehir's Hope is the fifth and final scenario in The Mage campaign in Heroes of Might and Magic V.

Walkthrough[]

Using the Heart of the Griffin, Zehir teleported his friends to Sheogh. Here they must confront Biara, who took Isabel with her. They have a gigantic army, but will it be enough to save Isabel?

First they need to pass through the garrisons. There are lot of troops, but if the heroes are skilled enough, they will pass with minimal losses. They can also use the Instant Travel spell, for no losses.

After passing, they need to attack the city where Biara is. All 4 heroes will have a different battle and with Biara's "The Infernal Chain" ability (which deals 820 damage and hops to 4 targets), the high attack and defense skills and the fact she summons creatures, they will suffer great losses. Still, after all heroes defeat her armies, Raelag tortures and intimidates her. She promises to lead them to Isabel if they keep her alive. Despite the odds, Raelag accepts.

The heroes are transported on a path to Kha-Beleth's castle. The battle with Kha-Beleth is much more difficult - this time, the heroes need to destroy the magical wall surrounding him, while he summons the Demons and uses "The Infernal Wave", dealing 250 damage to non-demon creatures. The catapult must not be destroyed or the Demon Messiah will be born.

When the barrier is destroyed, Kha-Beleth will offer Raelag (or Agrael) that he can have Isabel if he abandons his friends. Raelag refuses and promises to defeat Kha-Beleth. Kha-Beleth, like before, will summon creatures and use "The Infernal Wave", so the heroes need to get last of their strength to defeat the armies.

Victoriously, the heroes defeat Kha-Beleth. Still, Kha-Beleth tells them he still has the war and disappears. In any case, Isabel must be taken to be cleansed. Findan prefers to do it here, but Zehir teleports everyone to Silver Cities, where he purges her.

In the end, Godric and Isabel return to the chapel of Talonguard, where Isabel was to marry Nicolai. Isabel promises to make a new order and a new priesthood, appearing with unusually red eyes...

Strategy[]

The goal is to have all heroes win every battle. Since Biara and Kha-Beleth have very high stats and powerful abilities, it depends on how the hero uses their troops, and the abilities gained throughout the campaign. Some of the heroes can use Banish perk to destroy the summoned troops the enemy conjures in battle, or attempt to use magic resistances and protections to reduce damage. The key point is the first battle against Kha-Beleth, where if the catapult to destroy the wall is destroyed, the hero automatically loses the battle.

Notes[]

  • Raelag and the task description state Biara is in Ur-Hekal. However, the city Kha-Beleth is in named as Ur-Hekal.
  • This is the last Heroes V campaign. The story continues in Hammers of Fate, Freyda's Dilemma campaign.
