War of the Gray Alliance

The War of the Gray Alliance, or also known as the War of the Eclipse, was a war in Ashan that took place during the Fifth Lunar Eclipse, in the year 951 YSD. Once again, the hordes of Sheogh flooded out across the world of Ashan, and the nations united in the Gray Alliance to defeat them. High King Alaron of Irollan, Emperor Alexei Griffin of the Holy Griffin Empire, and Cyrus, First of the Circle of the Silver Cities, stood against the demonic armies of Kha-Beleth, and managed to drive them back.

When the demons fled back to their homeland, King Alexei was eager to follow them, but Cyrus and Alaron were less keen, fearing Kha-Beleth could not be defeated. While they hesitated, Alexei charged ahead, and was killed by the Demons. High King Alaron was racked with shame and guilt over his decision to hold back. Alexei's son Nicolai ascended the throne, and lived his entire life with a deep distrust of his father's allies for their failure to come to their friend's aid. Tieru however managed to preserve a fragment of Alexei's soul and bound it to an artifact he created called the Heart of the Griffin.
