"Have you heard the news, dear? It appears that your son, Nicolai, has just died."
Markal, to (dead) Fiona

The Temptation is the first scenario in The Necromancer campaign.

Walkthrough[]

Markal heard of King Nicolai death, so he plans to sway the Queen to raise him. He consults (dead) Fiona Griffin about this.

To get to the Queen, Markal needs to reach Virgil. He needs to evade the Silver Cities' patrols, else his plan will be foiled. The valley is small, so the patrols can reach him quickly. He needs to stay out from the battles from the Wizards... for now. There is also a tomb in the north filled with liches.

The path will lead Markal to south-east, where he needs to enter the underground. After arriving to the center, 2 heroes will arrive - Lethos and Yrbeth. Markal can just ignore them or fight them, depending on his choice. A Dungeon resides in south-west as well. Defeating some guards in west will free some vampires who will join Markal.

When Markal reaches the surface (via the passage in north-east), he sees the rebel troops under the command of Glen. Markal will have to defeat him to gain more trust from the Queen. After the battle, the Queen appears. Markal tells her he can raise Nicolai, to which she realizes he will use Necromancy. However, he tells her bringing Nicolai will restore the Empire, but he needs 4 relics to do that. Those relics are in hands of the Wizards, so slaying them will bring the arrogance down. Isabel agrees to, with a lot of suspicion.

Events[]

Markal arrives to Holy Griffin Empire.

Towns[]

Strategy[]

Markal first needs to stay away from the patrols, like a plague. He will also need a large force against Glen, as his army can be dangerous. Fighting Lethos and Yrbeth is optional, either they will attack Markal when they spot him or go to surface through the subterreanian passage in south-east.
