"In the two-hundredth year since the unification of the tribes, during the dark times of the family, a scout came frantically riding from the southern border towns. He reported that a barbarian horde had taken several outposts and burned down another. Geldria, the queen at the time, sent an army south to reclaim the lost towns and secure the border."
The Southern War is the fifth scenario of the Descendants campaign in Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Price of Loyalty.
Destroy the barbarians who are attacking the southern border of your kingdom! Recover your fallen towns, and then invade the jungle kingdom. Leave no enemy standing.OffBck
The heroes of the kingdom of Jarkonas took back their lands from the barbarian hordes, and pushed into their enemy's lands, punishing them for their unprovoked attack.
Walkthrough[]
The kingdom of Jarkonas starts with a single wizard castle and hero. The yellow player has three towns of a random faction to the southwest, and the red player has two barbarian castles and two towns to the south. The green player has two castles (one barbarian and one knight), four towns (one knight, one wizard, one sorceress, and one barbarian), and three heroes spread across the map.
Take the spiked shield as the starting bonus; extra defense and attack ensures longevity of the troops! The secondary skills only apply to the wizard hero, not the better Ivan/Joseph hero the player can hire.
Hire the main hero, then start heading east to capture the Knight town. Leave the secondary hero to collect the resources. Next, head west to capture the Wizard town and another town further west.
There are two options here:either detour and collect all the resources in the player's base, or proceed to invade into the enemy's territory. Regardless, head west and south to capture the three towns and castle. While doing do, start sending troops from the main base south to the middle, as it only has one point of entry, making it easier to defend all three bases at once. Start heading east to attack the Barbarian castles, and let the secondary hero guard the Barbarian castle north of the three monoliths while letting the main hero capture the rest. Once the barbarian castles in the middle are successfully captured, proceed to finish the last two castles to the far east that only have one point of entry.
