The Source is a character in Might and Magic: Swords of Xeen. It is an artificial intelligence that is the ruler of the world of Havec, and Lord Xeen's original master.
Background[]
The Source appeared on the prosperous world of Havec, sending its monsters across the land. It then sent Lord Xeen to pretend to be a friend and guardian to its people, but the population realized that the warlord really wanted to rule the planet. The Source also had four mighty wizards under its rule - Tranax, Arid, BelJuril, and De Marest.
The monsters attacked the people, smashing the Great Castle and destroying the cities. The planet was eventually turned into a desert wasteland, with the population scattered in the wilderness. Lord Xeen left through a portal, ending up on Xeen.
The Source considered humanity to be a disease or infection that had to be wiped out because it was "less than perfect" and a slave its emotions and desires. The artificial intelligence was destroyed when a party of adventurers activated the self-destruct sequence on the crashed spaceship that it inhabited.
Gameplay[]
The Source can be encountered in the Metal Tower. The party must activate the tower's self-destruct sequence and leave before it explodes.
Appearances[]
The Source appears only in Might and Magic: Swords of Xeen.
