- "Despite Elwin's reputation as a scamp, I felt drawn to his bold spirit. Not even Elwin knew his true potential. I saw it though, when we were lost in the forest with all sorts of bandits and creatures around us. He was probably more afraid than he had ever been in his life, yet he seemed more concerned with my mood. He kept trying to make me laugh. I will always love him for that."

The Lovers is the first scenario in the Elwin and Shaera campaign in Heroes of Might and Magic IV.
Information[]
A diplomatic mission along the coast of the Gold Sea turns tragic when pirates attack. Elwin and Shaera barely escape the mayhem, but soon realize they are lost in this wild part of Aranorn. It is up to Elwin to get them home again, but the courtly elf must first learn to survive in the wild and lead soldiers into battle if they are ever going to make it safely through this wild and dangerous region.OffBck
With the aid of the creatures of the wild, and the elves living nearby, Elwin manages to protect Shaera on their long journey to the safe port of Dolphin Jump. The two fall madly in love.
Strategy[]
Heading north from his starting point, and visiting the dwellings on his way to gain creatures, Elwin will eventually reach a neutral (and lightly defended) Preserve. To the east is a more heavily defended Asylum, and a Stronghold under the control of the blue player. An orange gate blocks him from heading north.
South of the Asylum is the blue keymaster's tent. Southeast of the Stronghold is a quest hut that will reward him with an Arrow of Stunning if he reclaims a Ring of Strength from a neutral sorcerer. Next to it is a tunnel to the underground, where the orange keymaster's tent can be found.
Heading north through the orange gate, Elwin can head east, past the blue tower, to find a third-level Nature Shrine, earning a third-level Nature Magic spell. To the north is an orange Asylum. Further north is a neutral Preserve (though either of the two enemy players may have captured it at this point). Further east is another blue Stronghold, and the last enemy town, an orange Asylum.
There are two gates to the east, one south and one east of the last orange Asylum. Both will only let Elwin and his creatures through, and lead to the town of Dolphin Jump, where Gramin is waiting for his daughter Shaera.
