"The bitter shores of the northern reaches did not greet Tarnum kindly. He made it ashore with only a small force, cut off from any support and surrounded by the stubborn Vori Elves. And to make matters worse, one of his own troops was plotting his death."

The Land of the Vori is the second scenario in The Sword of Frost, the eighth part of Heroes Chronicles.

Tarnum crashes on the icy shore of Vori land, only to learn that the Vori Elves have joined Gelu. He must defeat the enemy towns. All of Tarnum's skills, spells, and experience will transfer to the next scenario. Heroes are limited to level 12.OffBck

When Tarnum arrived in Vori, he found the Vori elves waiting for him. Since Gelu was half-Vori, they considered him one of their own, and were trying to stop Tarnum from following him. He needed to defeat them to reach the Sword of Frost first.

As Tarnum marched against his foes, he was suddenly shot by one of his own medusas. The creature wanted to kill him and take control of his army, but he was saved by three beholders - Neez, Zarm, and Kilkik. The three hoped that if they sided with Tarnum, he would reward them handsomely, so he made them his personal guards and advisors, and leaders of the army. Since they would now keep watch for him, Tarnum knew that the only people he needed to worry about were the three bodyguards. The beholders usually ignored him when he pretended to be insane by declaring war on a tree and ordering half his army to attack it.

Neez learned that the treacherous medusa that they had slain, had ten hatchlings that were plotting against them. Tarnum and the beholders ambushed the medusas, and while Zarm died in the battle, so did the medusas.

After defeating the Vori defenders, Tarnum could finally follow Gelu.

Walkthrough[]

Tarnum starts out on the northern shore of the western part of the map, with a Dungeon nearby that he can capture. To the southeast, there's a lightly defended neutral Rampart. Tarnum also has a Dragon Cave, allowing him to hire red dragons. It's located south of the Dungeon, but guarded by green dragons. The enemy has three Ramparts in the northeastern part of the map. The only way for Tarnum and his foes to reach each other is the path on the southern edge of the map, but it's blocked by a heavily defended neutral garrison.

Until the enemy has enough of an army to break through the neutral garrison, Tarnum can build up in peace, but since the enemy has more towns, and therefore potentially more income and creature growth, it would probably be wiser to strike first. With the closest Rampart taken care of, he can hire more creatures and take out the other two towns.

Strategy[]

By building a portal of summoning in his Dungeon, Tarnum can hire dragons from the Dragon cave without defeating the green dragons. Unfortunately, capturing any other dwellings will decrease the chance that the Dragon Cave is the dwelling he can hire from.
