"Having dispatched of his rival and demonstrated that he is the rightful conqueror and heir, Mongo is now free to continue the invasion of Channon. A new test awaits, however, in the form of a generations-old great wall that stretches for miles in either direction across the invasion's path. It would seem the kingdom was not quite as unprepared as Mongo had originally hoped."

The Great Wall is the second scenario in the Barbarian Hordes campaign in Winds of War.

Information[]

"Mongo's next test is to find a way across a great wall that stretches for miles across the foothills of northern Channon, and capture the settlements which lie on the other side."

As he was unable to find a way around the wall blocking the path of his invading horde, Mongo used the wood from the nearby Lumber Mills to create a pair of Catapults. The siege weapons were able to make a hole in the wall, and his army marched forth to capture the nearby towns.

Strategy[]

Initially, there's no way to get through the wall south of Mongo's starting town. The barbarians can't attack, but the Haven forces can't strike back, either.

But by capturing the three Lumber Mills, Mongo can construct a pair of Catapults, which can open the wall when placed on the hill with the Rally Flag south of his town.

Before opening the wall, Mongo should visit the western-most part of his side of the wall. A couple of Gargantuans are protecting a Tree of Knowledge and some useful artifacts.

Once he goes through the wall, Mongo will have a few months to capture the towns - after that, reinforcements will arrive, making it impossible for Mongo to achieve victory.
