Might and Magic Wiki

The Empire is an imperium present in the Price of Loyalty setting. Represented by various towns in Heroes of Might and Magic II, it is the primary playable faction in The Price of Loyalty, the expansion pack's flagship campaign. Throughout the campaign, the Empire is almost universally signified by the Blue player's flag.

History[]

By the time of Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Price of Loyalty, the Empire had reigned for "ages".[1] When Viscount Kraeger - lord of its northern reaches - turned against the Emperor in open rebellion, the realm sent forth a commander (one of Kraeger's former compatriots and friends) to quash the dissent.[2] After the northern provinces were suppressed, Kraeger fled to scour the continent for the Battle Garb of Anduran. The imperial commander raced Kraeger to its components, eventually prohibiting him from obtaining the artifact.[3]

After Kraeger's capture, it was discovered that a Necromantic Cabal - led by the Undead King, Ibn Fadlan - had swayed Kraeger into betraying the Empire through use of magic. The imperial commander attacked and routed the Cabal, leaving the Empire to regroup and prosper. Kraeger, however, was "seen by the people of the lands to raise arms against the Empire". All of his lands and titles were passed to the commander who defeated him.[1]

Despite the commander's protests, Kraeger's acts - though not committed of his own will - could not go unpunished: such was the price of loyalty.[1]

Geography[]

The geographical location of the Empire is unknown in relation to other realms, but it was situated somewhere in the mainland of an unnamed continent.[4] Its northern reaches consisted of two known territories - the Darkscale Mountains and the barren Darkscale Valley.[2][5]

Culture[]

The Empire was presided over by an Emperor, who employed a personal Archmage.[2][3] The Emperor was seen to possess "great wisdom", and the Empire's heroes were regarded for nobility and strength.[1]
