Gilraen

The Conquest is the third scenario in The Cultist campaign.

Walkthrough[]

To reach Tieru, Agrael needs to cross Irollan. On the border, a guard named Gilraen will refuse him to pass. Agrael says it is because Tieru needs to speak with him, but Gilraen says Tieru is a legend and does not believe him, so he attacks Agrael.

Gilraen escapes the battle, so Agrael is sure to cross his path once more. Going to east Agrael will encounter a Sylvan town. To expect less resistance, Agrael needs to capture all the towns. After capturing the first one, he reads a poem from Gilraen that their honour will not be tained, especially from a Demon Lord. The following week after Agrael captured the town, druids from a plateau will summon creatures to hamper his path. Agrael could kill the druids to make his job easier.

The druids are in the center of the map and can be reached from the nothern site. Note that ancient treants will block his path and the script causes that quick-combat is disabled on this one.

After some weeks, a Ranger (random one) will get into the territory with a medium army, freeing Agrael's path to the other 2 towns. However, Agrael might encounter Gilraen, who massed a powerful force. After defeating Gilraen, Agrael sends him loose, as he gives him the advice that he should let the honour go, as it would've killed him. Gilraen (nervously) leaves. Also, after capturing the last town, Agrael escapes the territory to get to the ferry to get the ship to the Dragonmist Island.

When battling with druids at center of map Agrael's (or other hero's) forces have time limit.

Strategy[]

Agrael starts with an Inferno town (named Ur-Kharg) that cannot recruit pit fiends or devils, so after capturing the Wenlan (the Sylvan town), Agrael needs to build that town and recruit elven troops. Having demon troops will not have much success.

Fighting Gilraen is quite difficult, since he has 2 Sylvan towns, Firios and Ynthil. Gilraen could attack Agrael inside the town, so destroying the catapult first will improve Agrael's chances. Since Gilraen will attack later in the game, Agrael should level up. There are plenty of monsters to have him level up before Gilraen arrives. Fighting Gilraen from within a town is more safer, as the additional defenses will give Agrael more chances to win.

One strategy can be is to not capture Wenlan, but instead pass it and attack one of the other towns. This does not hurt the army much (Wenlan is very limited in what can be built there) while delaying the druids' summoning and not provoking Gilraen until later.

Once the druids start summoning the Sylvan creatures, it is highly recommended that Agrael start going after them, as they will automatically join any Ranger that approaches, and can therefore easily give them an overwhelming army, or at the very least make the fight a lot harder.
