"Don't take me for a fool we all know of your ambitions. But remember I do this for the Stone Halls, not for you."
High Priest Hangvul

The Break is the second scenario in the Ylaya's Quest campaign in the Hammers of Fate expansion.

Walkthrough[]

Ylaya has been tracked by Tharlsai's forces. She will have to evade their forces and escape the territory as soon as possible. However, 3 garrisons stand in her way, so she needs to gather forces from the dwellings.

Ylaya has a limited amount of time - she needs to reach the first garrison in 2 weeks, the second one in 3 and the third one in four weeks. Still, there are 2 keymaster's tents, who will give Ylaya key for an artifact - Axe of the Mountain Lords (red) and Unicorn Horn Bow (blue). When Ylaya has prepared herself, she needs to strike and get out.

When Ylaya passed the last garrison, in Stone Halls, Rolf and High Priest Hangvul tell King Tolghar that the Dark Elves are winning and the dwarves are scared of their attacks. Tolghar now decides that he will lead the troops personally, as Arkath has chosen that he will have to do this, despite Rolf's and Hangvul's attempts to stop him. Hangvul fears Tolghar has been weakened over the years and a new king will have to be decided and seems the only choice is Rolf...

Events[]

  • Tolghar goes to war.
  • Ylaya escapes the Soulscar Clan's forces.

Strategy[]

Much like the previous scenario, Ylaya must lose as few troops as possible to prevail. Spells should do the trick to win.

Notes[]

  • There is a location in east, where dirt is. It is guarded by a bunch of mummies, but they are not seen (much like the artifact from The Choice scenario).
  • Before the first garrison, Ylaya may have the option to search a bush. The result is she gets extra gold.
  • When the enemy hero comes to the territory, Ylaya has few days to escape it. However, the heroes will not go past the garrison, but will stay inside it, so Ylaya cannot pass.
