"Though each hero has succeeded in their previous trials, none compare to the task at hand. Using all their combined strengths, the five heroes must now set out to stop the destruction, the havoc being wreaked by the armies and the magic of Hexis. The broken lands await, and the true test is yet to come."

Storm on the Horizon is the first scenario in the The Gathering Storm campaign in The Gathering Storm expansion.

"Hexis's corruption of nature is becoming more widespread and his taint is starting to effect the lands as far north as Devonshire. The Heroes must make their way south through the only pass in the area, and reach Hexis before all the land is affected by his madness."

After facing off against a local Chaos lord seeking to exploit the devastation wrought by Hexis, the five heroes find the pass they seek, going further into Hexis's lands.

Strategy[]

The five heroes are together at last. The enemy stacks are quite powerful in this campaign, so the heroes should travel in groups of at least two - apart from Dogwoggle, whose artifacts will allow him to fight well enough on his own, if he has all combat skills.

The objective in this scenario is a small pass on the southern edge of the map. To pass through it, the heroes need to defeat the red player (whose Asylum is located next to the pass) and visit three quest huts, one in the northeastern corner, one in the southwestern corner, and one in the southeastern corner. The Asylum is heavily guarded, making it hard to take it unless all heroes are present.

The southwestern quest hut wants 10 000 gold, and 10 of each resource. The northeastern one wants 9 000 gold and 40 peasants - luckily, there's a few Hovels nearby. The southeastern one wants 15 000 gold, 40 gems, and 40 sulfur.

Once the red player has been defeated and the quest huts visited, the path will open, and the heroes must face one last stack of Gargantuans, Evil sorceresses, Goblin knights, and Dark champions before finishing the scenario.
