Sorpigal by the Sea is small coastal town on the Agyn Peninsula in the world of Ashan. It is the starting town of Might & Magic X: Legacy.
General Info[]
The inhabitans of Sorpigal-by-the-Sea acknowledge that some of them have heard of other Sorpigals, but no-one knows the origin of the name. This is a reference to Sorpigal, the starting town of Might and Magic Book One: The Secret of the Inner Sanctum, and New Sorpigal, the starting town of Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven (The origin of the name was never given in either of those games either).
As its name suggests, it is a harbor town. It also has one magic guild, an inn, weapons and armory shops and an alchemist's shop. At the start of Might & Magic X: Legacy, the town's well is infested by giant spiders.

Inspiration[]
Starting town Sorpigal-by-the-Sea was heavily inspired by pictures taken by Julien Pirou, creative designer of Limbic Entertainment during his vacation in Mediterrian/Aegean sea on Cyclades islands. "Since Sorpigal was written as a lovely village where heroes go to enjoy a sunny retirement, it seemed more than fitting. After all, who wouldn’t want to retire in a place like that?"[1]
