"I have a decision to make. It has come to my attention that Roland has struck an alliance with the king of the Dwarves. I am certain that you recognize the potential danger this alliance presents to my- our position. At the same time I have received a plea for help from the Necromancer's guild. It seems the Wizard's guild has moved against their ancient rivals while they believe the royal forces to be otherwise occupied. The question I put to you, my general, is shall we shatter the Dwarven alliance, or shall we rescue the Necromancer's guild?"
Slay the Dwarves is the fourth scenario of Archibald's campaign in Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Succession Wars. The player must choose between this scenario and Necromancers. If they choose Slay the Dwarves they'll receive an ogre allience that makes all neutral ogre and ogre lord stacks join them, and the Dwarf-Bane nickname will make all dwarf and battle dwarf stacks run away in fear. If they choose Necromancers, they will be able to hire a high-level necromancer at the castle in all future scenarios.
The Dwarves need conquering before they can interfere in King Archibald's plans. Roland's forces have more than one hero and many towns to start with, so be ready for attack from multiple directions. You must capture all of the enemy towns and castles to claim victory.OffBck
Realizing that Roland was forging an alliance with the Dwarves, Archibald sent his commander to slay his brother's new allies to weaken the rebellion. After the brutal assault, the king of the Dwarves named the commander "Dwarf-Bane", and the Dwarves' traditional rivals the Ogres pledged Archibald their allegiance.
Walkthrough[]
The commander has one castle and three heroes of their chosen faction, and three sorceress towns, in the northeastern corner. The towns can only produce dwarves or battle dwarves, and cannot be upgraded to castles.
Roland's forces have one sorceress castle, three heroes, and five towns, and the towns have the same limitations as Archibald's towns. The castle is located in the southwestern corner.
Capturing the towns will grant dwarves and income, but it's more important to capture the castle. Once the castle and heroes are dealt with, the towns will present no challenge.
Notes[]
This scenario is identical to Save the Dwarves, the only difference being what side the commander fights on.
