"Years of oppression, the loss of everyone he loved, and an unexpected betrayal brought Tarnum to this dark point where his rage conquered reason. He decided the only way he and his people would ever be safe was to execute every living spellcaster in the world, and anyone who didn't join him was his enemy."
Slash and Burn is the seventh scenario in the Warlords of the Wasteland.
After losing most of his Horde to a Wizard's trap, Tarnum searches for allies in a valley where Jarg's descendents settled long ago. Don't let Tarnum fall into enemy hands. All heroes are limited to level 28. Tarnum and all of his skills, spells and experience will transfer to the next scenario.OffBck
When Tarnum finally reached the valley where the descendants of Jarg the Conqueror lived, he discovered that they were simple peasants, both unable and unwilling to rebel against their wizard masters. As they believed Tarnum would be dead soon, they refused to join his army. Still upset by the loss of his horde in the avalanche, and fearing that the peasants would join the wizards and bolster their ranks, Tarnum slaughtered every peasant he came across, burning villages and taking everything worth pillaging.
His captains were upset at Tarnum's savagery, and when Derg, one of the goblin captains, deserted his army to go home, Tarnum sent his old friend Hardac to bring him back in chains. Rather than hang him, Tarnum offered to let the goblin win his freedom with a battle to the death, but the fight was against Hardac, and very short.
The other captains were unwilling to follow Tarnum further, but for a while, Hardac managed to keep them from leaving. But finally, Tarnum's old friend agreed that they had gone too far, and he told Tarnum that they should travel home. Faking a smile, Tarnum told him they would talk about it over a feast.
While inspecting the smoking remains of a village, Tarnum discovered that one of the peasants murdered in his massacres was Anada, his oldest sister, whom had been taken away by the wizards before he was born.
Walkthrough[]
Tarnum and his two strongest heroes from the previous scenario start out with a Stronghold in the southeastern corner. To the west, there are two two-way portals. The northern one is weakly defended, and leads to a neutral Fortress. The southern one is defended by a group of Ancient behemoths, and leads to the enemy lands, with one Tower and one Stronghold.
Conquering the blue player will win the scenario.
Towns[]
- Two Strongholds
- One Fortress
- One Tower
Strategy[]
Most of the enemies faced on this map will be neutral peasant stacks. While individually, they're weak, large forces can be a threat to small armies, so Tarnum shouldn't engage later stacks without a larger force.
Taking the Fortress will give Tarnum some extra resources and creatures before his fight against the blue player, and he should capture the town early.
Only Tarnum will carry over to the next scenario, no other heroes, so levelling them won't be necessary.
