For other uses, see skeleton archer.

The skeleton archer is an upgraded version of the skeleton, the first-level Necropolis creature in Heroes of Might and Magic V.

Armed with bow and arrow, Skeleton Archers strike from afar. High initiative allows Skeletons to strike first, but their weak frames can only withstand a little damage before collapsing.OffBck

Like skeletons, they have low health. The difference between them is that the skeleton archer can safely attack at a range, allowing them to avoid deadly retaliation. Their initiative is also quite high, allowing them to attack faster. An ammo cart should also be purchased early on to grant the skeleton the ability to contribute to longer battles.

Skeleton archers are very useful early in the game. Their ranged attacks can kill off stacks of creatures from afar before they even get close to your army. However, they are useless in small numbers. Therefore, gathering a large number of these units and adequately defending them in combat is extremely beneficial to your army. In high enough quantities, they can even be useful in the later stages of a scenario.

Abilities[]

  • Undead - This creature is not alive and its morale is always neutral. It cannot be affected by Poison- , Blind- or Mind-related spells.
  • Shooter - This creature can inflict damage remotely. When distance from target is longer than half the battle field, the target only suffers half of the damage. Shooters cannot use the range attack when blocked by enemy creatures. If there is no ammo cart in the army, the shots are limited to available ammo.
