The skeleton is a level-one creature of the Necropolis in Heroes of Might and Magic IV.

Skeletons make a moderately good screen for your heroes because of their enhanced ranged defense. While no stronger than many level 1 units, they can be formidable even late-game because of their numbers; if a Necromancer picks up the Necromancy skill fairly early and doesn't immediately raise it to Expert or better, he can accumulate a terrifying number of skeletons before very long - hordes of over 1000 are possible.

Another way to accumulate hordes of skeletons is to convert all of your imps to skeletons at the Undead Transformer. This way, you can bring 8 stacks with your army by having your imps, or their bones at least, march along with the skeletons.

Ability undead

Undead creatures are not affected by morale, or by spells and abilities that only work on living creatures. Some spells and artifacts (such as Holy Water) have special effects on Undead creatures. Undead creatures, however, give an additional -2 morale penalty to all non-Death creatures.


Skeletal increases this creature's Ranged Defense by 100%.
