The Shantiri Crystal is an artifact from Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. Sareth is tasked with retrieving the crystal and delivering it to the wizard Menelag, who needs it to obtain the Skull of Shadows.
Menelag is later killed by Arantir's undead forces, and Sareth and Leanna uses the crystal to find the Skull of Shadows themselves.
