Might and Magic Wiki

"Messengers inform me Queen Catherine and Roland Ironfist are retreating to the Erathian border. Avlee has chosen to turn a blind eye toward the war, but have purposely left local heroes to their own will. Under the Queen's orders we are to wage a 'hit-and-run' war along the Avlee border. Our only support will be local militia hostile toward the Kreegans. Should we be captured, Erathia and Avlee will disavow any knowledge of our actions. Otherwise... this task is no different than before."
Gelu

Shadows of the Forest is the second scenario of the campaign Armageddon's Blade in Heroes of Might and Magic III: Armageddon's Blade.

Gelu must defeat all enemies in this area using guerilla tactics. He is the only one with the skills to lead this raid, for without him all is lost. Gelu will be allowed to advance to 12th Level and carry over his skills, experience, and spells to the next scenario.OffBck

Walkthrough[]

Catherine has requested the help of the Forest Guard, Gelu, to combat the Eeofol forces. Gelu is tasked to capture the neighboring Inferno towns. AvLee has decided to stay out of the conflict, so Gelu has only few mercenaries to back his side. Gelu has only one town, Diasamere, which has some buildings built already, though some cannot be built. Gelu also starts with some Erathian and AvLee shooters, who will immediately join him. Eeofol is protected by many garrisons, which contain powerful forces and may not be attacked at first.

As Gelu tries to find a way to attack the towns, he will encounter some gypsies. He enters a caravan and meets Nayestra the Oracle, who fortells Gelu will be a widely known and famous hero, but a great evil will befell him. Gelu is troubled, but thanks Nayestra, giving her a gem and seven gold coins. Going towards north, Gelu will find a strange town, a Conflux, called Whitespire. Like Diasamere, a lot of buildings are disabled and cannot be built. Gelu suspects it is a city of Bracada origin, but does not know how it was built in but a few months. Going towards west, Gelu will find the town of Dova Saera, which has Capitol already built.

On his way, Gelu will meet up with three figures: Ciele, Erdamon and Fiur, who inform him about the Dark Lord, King Lucifer, and his servant, General Xeron, who want to destroy the world by using the Armageddon's Blade. Gelu will see for himself when two people carry a dying person, all members of the Talon Brigade, who tells him Xeron is merciless and has slayed the entire force.

Once Gelu has prepared himself, he should capture the towns of Jakta, Moribund, Dragonbane and Reavers Gate. Once every single demon has been killed, the scenario is completed.

Strategy[]

The Inferno heroes will likely strike in a matter of weeks. Even worse, if too much time is taken, the enemy will recruit overwhelming forces in a month. To retaliate, Gelu should seek some artifacts aroun (like the Golden Bow just north of Diasamere) and move as fast to other towns as possible, while other heroes guard them. Once enough troops have been gathered, Gelu should stir trouble by capturing some Inferno towns, not allowing the enemy to rest for too much. As soon as the towns have collected a lot of troops, Gelu should return and wipe out the rest of the enemy's forces. In addition, Gelu is limited to 12th level.
