The shadow matriarch is the upgraded level-six creature level creature of the Dungeon in Heroes of Might and Magic V.
The Shadow Matriarchs are the ruling elite of the Dark Elf armies. If pressed into close combat they use whips as weapons, but prefer to rely on their much more potent magics. The Matriarchs have more spells at their disposal than the Witches.OffBck
Strategy[]
The big question with the matriarchs are if you should use the attack or spells first. It depends of course on what opponents you face. For example, it is better to curse fast units like griffins, nightmares or blood furies with slow than to attack them. Unfortunately Confusion is not strong enough to get shooters to forget their ranged attacks completely but it will reduces the strength of their retaliation strikes, which is a great help for the low defense dungeon creatures.
An ammo cart is advised for longer battles, as the shadow matriarch has only four shots without one. If one cannot be obtained and a long battle is expected, the shadow mistress may be a better choice.
Abilities[]
- Shooter — Creature has a ranged attack.
- Whip Strike — When attacking in melee target may be cursed with Slow, Weakness or Berserk.
- Spellbook — Slow, Vulnerability, Confusion, Righteous Might. Spells are cast on advanced level.
