"The Necromancers no longer fought amongst themselves. United, they continued their senseless destruction of the subterranean world. Wherever they tread, they left nothing but scorched earth and rotting corpses."
Senseless Destruction is the second scenario in The World Tree, the fifth part of Heroes Chronicles.
Tarnum must defeat all of the Necromancers in the area. If Tarnum loses a battle the entire campaign will be lost. All Heroes will be restricted to level twelve, but Tarnum and two of his best Heroes will transfer to the next scenario.OffBck
Tarnum faced a unified army as the necromancers searching for the World Tree united under a red banner, but the undead were also joined by a group of barbarians calling themselves the Followers of Vorr. These barbarians throw themselves into combat to kill or be killed for the glory of Vorr, and are not interested in negotiations.
From the shaman Addar, Tarnum learned that Vorr was one of the Ancestors. A group of barbarians from Krewlod turned one of their ancient kings into a war god, hoping that he would inspire them to greatness. One of the Ancestors accepted this worship, drew power from it, and took the form of a war god, calling himself Vorr.
Tarnum feared that the barbarian king that the people of Krewlod worshipped was himself from his time as the Barbarian Tyrant. He didn't think he could defeat one of the Ancestors in battle, but hoped he could stop him from destroying the World Tree.
With reinforcements from the surface, Tarnum managed to defeat the nearby necromancers.
Walkthrough[]
Tarnum has a Stronghold and his two strongest heroes from the previous scenario. The opponent has five Necropolises and a lot of garrisons.
From his Stronghold, Tarnum can head southwest to the center of the surface. To the northwest is one of the Necropolises, and to the southeast is another, both protected by red garrisons.
There's a two-way monolith leading to the underground, where a neutral garrison blocks the path to the third Necropolis. The last two Necropolises are to the southwest and southeast, both behind red garrisons, and with a red garrison between them.
Towns[]
- One Stronghold
- Five Necropolises
Strategy[]
With only one Stronghold on the map, Tarnum should rely mostly on Necropolis creatures in this scenario. The enemy can take creatures from their garrisons into the hero's army, so Tarnum should be prepared for tough fights.
In the southwestern part of the surface, there's a neutral garrison blocking the path to some valuable mines. In the eastern part of the underground, there's an arena and some other stat-improving buildings, but red garrisons block all entrances.
