The scorpicore is a creature in the Shades of Darkness expansion to Might & Magic: Heroes VI. It is the upgraded version of the manticore.

The Scorpicore is a Manticore that the Dark Elves exposed to an underground Nexus of dragonblood crystals attuned to the elemental powers of Darkness. This makes the magical beast more powerful, and more receptive to its master's commands.OffBck

Tactics[]

The scorpicore is fast and deadly, and can be one of the most potent units in the Dungeon army when used correctly. The scorpicore is one of the fastest units in the game, equaled by a select few and surpassed only by the sacred kirin. Enhanced by artifacts and abilities, the scorpicore will nearly always strike before any other unit on the field of battle. This can be used to the army's advantage by having a scorpicore wait, strike at the very end of the turn, and then fly away or to another enemy with its action the next turn. This is particularly effective when used in combination with the Paralyzing Sting ability, preventing the enemy from pursuing the scorpicore, and possibly preventing them from attacking at all for the affected turns. Manticores are also well-suited to attacking to weaken a target, lowering its might defense so that other, slower creatures such as the chakram dancer or minotaur guard can attack with increased damage. Manticores are one of the favorite targets of an enemy AI, however, so take care in deploying them to avoid enemies surrounding them.

When besieging a town, manticores can fly over the walls within two turns to incapacitate enemy creatures, potentially paralyzing melee combatants then flying away to harass ranged units. They are just as effective when the army is being besieged, as manticores may make use of their strategy of waiting, attacking, and flying away to even greater effect when they may fly back into castle walls, away from potential opponents.

When fighting scorpicore, take care for their long range and dangerous paralyzing sting. It is best to incapacitate these creatures quickly with overwhelming force, lest they reach allied ranged units and stop them from working to their fullest potential. This also helps to keep their Dissolving Venom from affecting too many allied stacks.
