The Sceptre of Temporal Distortion is an important quest item in World of Xeen. In the time before the unification ceremony, it was held by Lord Xeen. When he was defeated by the Defenders of Xeen, they claimed the staff. They also tried to claim the sixth mirror that King Burlock sought, but when the sceptre was brought near the mirror, the two artifacts proved incompatible, and the mirror was destroyed, taking Castle Xeen with it.
After Sheltem's defeat, the dragon pharaoh wanted to use the Scepter of Temporal Distortion and the Cube of Power to carry out a unification ceremony for Xeen, announcing that "the destiny of Xeen is in sight".
The dragon pharaoh and the Defenders of Xeen prepared the ceremony. Queen Kalindra presented the Cube of Power, and Prince Roland held the Sceptre of Temporal Distortion. Both objects were placed on the Altar of Joining, and the unification process began. A short while later, the two sides of Xeen were united to a single planet.
