"Congratulations! A splendid display of military acumen! With the financial backing of this rich farming region, we now have the gold it takes to win this war. Now we need to secure the resources. Our enemy Archibald has begun to move troops into the mountainous mining regions of the south known as Carator, and we need to oppose him and seize these resources for ourselves. At the same time, I have received a plea for help from Roklin, King of the Dwarves. Archibald's warlocks have attacked a dwarven village four days ago, slaughtering every last man, woman, and child in their quest for dwarven gold. Finding none, they pressed their attack against the rest of the dwarven holdings. My general, I seek your counsel. Shall we launch an immediate attack on Archibald's forces in Carator, or shall we go to the aid of the Dwarves?"

Save the Dwarves is the third scenario of Roland's campaign in Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Succession Wars. It's optional, but will grant the player a dwarven alliance for all later scenarios in the campaign, which means that all neutral dwarf and battle dwarf stacks will join them when encountered.

Your task is to defend the Dwarves against Archibald's forces. Capture all of the enemy towns and castles to win, and be sure not to lose all of the dwarf towns at once, or the enemy will have won.OffBck

When Roland learned that Archibald was slaughtering dwarven villages on a quest for dwarven gold, he sent his commander to stop the attacks and protect their dwarven allies. In return, the dwarves pledged to assist Roland in his future endeavors, promising him their aid.

Walkthrough

The commander has one castle and three heroes of their chosen faction, and five sorceress towns. The towns can only produce dwarves or battle dwarves, and cannot be upgraded to castles.

Archibald's forces have one warlock castle, three heroes, and three sorceress towns, with the same limitations as Roland's towns. His forces are concentrated in the northeastern corner.

By building up quickly, Roland's forces can stop Archibald from taking more of the dwarven towns than necessary, eventually pushing him back to his own lands and bringing his soldiers to justice.
