For other uses, see royal griffin.

The royal griffin is the upgraded version of the griffin, the third-tier creature of the Castle faction in Heroes of Might and Magic III. It can be recruited from the upgraded griffin tower.

Griffins roost in special towers built for them on the Castle grounds. Standard griffins are able to counterstrike against two attackers per turn. Royal griffins can counterstrike an unlimited number of attackers.OffBck

The royal griffin has two major improvements over the griffin: a large increase in speed, and instead of retaliating twice, the royal griffin has unlimited retaliation, fighting back every time it is struck. This protects it from being ganged up on, or at least assures that the opponent will regret doing so.

The biggest problem is that its hit points are still low, and it is too vulnerable to stand on its own.

Notes

  • Edric is a specialist in royal griffins, and gives them +1 to Attack and Defense per hero level.
