Might and Magic Wiki

The Redwood Observatory is an adventure map structure in Heroes of Might and Magic III and Heroes of Might and Magic V. There are similar structures in Heroes of Might and Magic II and Heroes of Might and Magic IV, with the same effect, called the Observation Tower and Redwood Tree respectively.

In all games, the effect is the same: by visiting it, the player reveals much of the surrounding map, though in Heroes IV, the area is still under fog of war.

Heroes III also features a cosmetic variant called the Pillar of Fire, which typically only appears on the subterranean level. Heroes IV also has two cosmetic variants called the Ice Spire and Tower.
