"Alongside my father I have killed Behemoth before, but never an Ancient Behemoth. To contest the throne, I must slay one of these fearsome beasts. I relish the encounter. After I have slain this one, I will know how to subdue them. Then I will employ them in my bloody ascension to kingship."
—Kilgor
Razor Claw is the first scenario of the Festival of Life campaign in Heroes of Might and Magic III: Armageddon's Blade.
Walkthrough[]
The task of killing Razor Claw has been given to you. Prove yourself and defeat the Ancient Behemoth in three months or lose your chance at becoming King. If Kilgor is lost then his chance to become king ends also. Kilgor is limited to twelfth level.OffBck
Kilgor, an overambitious barbarian, seeks to become the king of Krewlod. The only way to do it is to take tests through the Festival of Life. His first task is to eliminate predators: ancient behemoths, led by Razor Claw, who terrorizes the area, though Kilgor seeks to employ them in his conquest. Unfortunately, he has been given a time limit of three months. He knows how behemoths are ferocious, since he hunted them with his father. He has to seek a town first, but all of them are guarded by vicious monsters.
His scouts report three ways to the mountains, but are guarded by rocs, ogres and cyclops. He could, however, seek a ship near the sea and travel through a whirlpool. On the other side are ogres guarding a monolith, which connects to the eastern-most Stronghold town. Beyond the mountains, however, are more wild creatures, but apart of them are a bunch of ogre magi and orc chieftains that would like to join him, as well as a bunch of hobgoblins, wolf raiders and ogres that will ambush him (they are hidden, directly south of the northern lake with the whirlpool).
Kilgor has to access the subterranean entrance and go inside the cave, where he has first to defeat souls of the fallen (wights and wraith), then defeat the beast, Razor Claw, itself. Once done, Kilgor advances to the next part of the Festival of Life.

Strategy[]
The beginning is usually rough, for Kilgor has first to seek a town, which is located south-east of his starting position. He has to seek resources and mines quickly to build up the town, though many of them are guarded by hordes of low-level troops. Once some force has been gathered, he should conquer the other three towns, which also don't have much to be built (for many buildings are disabled for construction). Once done, he should recruit more creatures to rampage through the lands (and build up the primary skills), then attack the 16 ancient behemoths to win.
