Poltergeists live in the vaults of the old ruined castle, located right at the edge of Heresh. More than anything else, poltergeists have a hatred for archers, and will always endeavour to empty their quivers before they start shooting.OffBck

The poltergeist is the alternate upgrade of the ghost, the third-tier creature of the Necropolis in Heroes of Might and Magic V.

Compared to spectres, poltergeists have 1 more attack, defense, health, and speed, but 1 less initiative. The poltergeist lacks the spectre's Mana Drain, which works well against casters, but Steal Ammunition is very effective against powerful shooters. Against armies with many shooters but few casters, the poltergeist is quite useful as long as the enemy doesn't have an ammo cart. If the enemy has one, it is recommended to destroy it before using Steal Ammunition.

Abilities[]

  • Undead - This creature is not alive (like all other Necropolis creatures) and its morale is always neutral. It cannot be affected by Poison- , Blind- or Mind-related magic.OffBck
  • Incorporeal - This creature is incorporeal so any non-magical attack against it has only 50% chance of inflicting damage.OffBck
  • Flyer - This creature can move on to any free tile on the game field during its turn, regardless of the obstacles in the way.OffBck
  • Steal Ammunition - Once per combat, this creature can steal some ammo from the enemy stacks within its movement range (activated ability).OffBck
