In Heroes of Might and Magic: A Strategic Quest the phoenix is the sixth-tier creature available to the Forest faction. A bird from blazing fire, the Phoenix is generally viewed as second only to the dragon in terms of strength and cost.

Phoenixes are about half as good (and half as expensive) as dragons. Fast speed to go first, nice attack and damage, 100 hit points and a Fire Breath attack make phoenixes a good unit to tackle the enemy shooters straight away while the unicorns are getting there or protecting the missile troops. Try to get two enemies at once with the breath. Beware that an enemy can make a phoenix retaliate and get both itself and one of the units with the fire breath, so position phoenixes carefully.
