The Orc Crusades were a series of conflicts between the Holy Falcon Empire and the orcs, lasting from 470 YSD to 504 YSD.

History[]

In 467 YSD, orcish rebellion broke out in the Seven Cities, which spread to the Holy Falcon Empire. Rejecting their masters and the Dragon-Gods, the orcs declared themselves free. In the Holy Falcon Empire, crusades were declared against the orcs – attempts to subjugate them and convert them back to dragon worship. The fighting was brutal, and the orcs were relentlessly driven back. Eventually, the unrepentant survivors fled wherever they could, including the Steppes of Ranaar (north-east), the Desert of Sahaar (south-west) and the Pao Islands (south-east).

In 470 YSD, the Imperial Armada, lead by duke Serguei Griffin, attacked the imperial protectorate of Hammer Fall, which was harboring more than two thousands orcish escapees. The armada was defeated by a joint effort by local militia, bloodsmiths and orcs led by Tomas Wolf.[1]

In 504 YSD, a great storm sank the Haven fleet that was prepared to follow the orcs to their island refuge. Empress Morwenna died with her fleet. Her son, emperor Connor III, declared this a sign from the Dragon-Gods, and formally ended the Orc Crusades. Many orcs believed that their legendary hero, Kunyak, created that storm with the Cup of Thunder, allowing the orcs to form a single state where they could be free of slavery.
