Nival is a Russian video game developer. According to some sources, it is one of the largest developers in the country.
Nival's primary focus is on real-time strategy games. Its best-known products would probably be Etherlords, Blitzkrieg, and Silent Storm. The company also released the fifth game in the Heroes of Might and Magic series, a franchise owned by Ubisoft.
Nival was founded in 1996 by Sergey Orlovskiy. In early 2005, the company was bought by Ener1 Group, a Florida-based holdings company, for around US$10 million. Ener1 has stated that it will "integrate Nival's artists, designers, and programmers with its US-based video gaming interests", although there is confusion as to what this means, as Ener1 is not yet known to have any involvement with video games other than Nival. Ener1 has also stated an intention to turn Nival's resources towards development for video game console; until now, all Nival's games have been for the PC. Nival's management and marketing teams will now be based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, while the main development team will remain in Moscow.
Founded in 1996, Nival Interactive was one of the first Russian developers to enter the game market in a big way. Nival Interactive Russia is the leading, and also the largest, game development studio in Russia with five development teams in Moscow and Ekaterinburg. The company also now has expanded past Russia, and has its corporate offices in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The company has several award-winning titles in its catalog, including original titles and new editions in established franchises.
Nival Interactive changed its name on July 6, 2009. Astrum Nival is the part of Astrum Online Entertainment that focuses on client-based free to play online games; Nival Group is the minor shareholder.
Nival Interactive, Inc. develops and markets video games for children and adults. Its products include Heroes of Might and Magic V, Blitzkrieg II, Hard Truck: Apocalypse, Hammer & Sickle, Rage of Mages, Etherlords, Silent Storm, and Night Watch series. Nival Interactive was founded in Russia in 1996. As of August 31, 2005, Nival Interactive, Inc. is a subsidiary of Ener1 Group and is headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
