Nival is a Russian video-games company, it is even one of the largest in the country.
Nival's primary focus is on role-playing and strategy games. Their first game was Sea Legends in 1996 when they were named Mir Dialogue before they renamed themselves as Nival and their best-known series are Rage of Mages (known as Allods in Russia), Etherlords, Silent Storm and Blitzkrieg. They also published many Cryo Interactive's games in Russia and developed Heroes of Might and Magic V which was the first Ubisoft's Might and Magic game which abandoned the original continuity to reboot it since 3DO's collapse in 2003.
Nival was founded in 1996 by Sergey Orlovskiy. In early 2005, the company was bought by Ener1 Group, a Florida-based holdings company, for around US$10 million. Ener1 has stated that it will "integrate Nival's artists, designers, and programmers with its US-based video gaming interests", although there is confusion as to what this means, as Ener1 is not yet known to have any involvement with video games other than Nival. Ener1 has also stated an intention to turn Nival's resources towards development for video game console; until now, all Nival's games have been for the PC. Nival's management and marketing teams will now be based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, while the main development team will remain in Moscow.
Founded in 1996, Nival Interactive was one of the first Russian developers to enter the game market in a big way. Nival Interactive Russia is the leading, and also the largest, game development studio in Russia with five development teams in Moscow and Ekaterinburg. The company also now has expanded past Russia, and has its corporate offices in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The company has several award-winning titles in its catalog, including original titles and new editions in established franchises.
Nival Interactive changed its name on July 6, 2009. Astrum Nival is the part of Astrum Online Entertainment that focuses on client-based free to play online games; Nival Group is the minor shareholder.
Nival Interactive, Inc. develops and markets video games for children and adults.
