"I have a decision to make. It has come to my attention that Roland has struck an alliance with the king of the Dwarves. I am certain that you recognize the potential danger this alliance presents to my- our position. At the same time I have received a plea for help from the Necromancer's guild. It seems the Wizard's guild has moved against their ancient rivals while they believe the royal forces to be otherwise occupied. The question I put to you, my general, is shall we shatter the Dwarven alliance, or shall we rescue the Necromancer's guild?"

Necromancers is the third scenario of Archibald's campaign in Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Succession Wars. The player must choose between this scenario and Slay the Dwarves. If they choose Necromancers, they will be able to hire a high-level necromancer at the castle in all future scenarios. If they choose Slay the Dwarves they'll receive an ogre allience that makes all neutral ogre and ogre lord stacks join them, and the Dwarf-Bane nickname will make all dwarf and battle dwarf stacks run away in fear.

Do-gooder wizards have taken the Necromancers' castle. You must retake it to achieve victory. Remember that while you start with a powerful army, you have no castle and must take one within 7 days, or lose this battle. (Hint: The nearest castle is to the southeast.)OffBck

When his allies in the Necromancers' guild were attacked by the Wizards' guild, Archibald sent his commander to aid them, hoping to strengthen the alliance between them. The commander was successful, and the guild sent their finest necromancers to aid Archibald in the future.

Walkthrough[]

The commander controls a red warlock with a large army in the northwestern corner. The yellow wizard foes have three castles, one town, and four heroes. The scenario's objective is to capture the town of Quick Silver, which is located in the southeastern corner and will be heavily defended.

As the warlock has no castle, the first thing to do is to capture the nearby wizard castle. Using their initial forces, it should be possible to capture one or both of the other castles, leaving only the town.

The town will be fiercely protected, and building a large army of wizard creatures will be necessary to conquer it.
