The medusa is a neutral creature in Heroes of Might and Magic II. It can be trained from the ruins.
Special ability[]
The medusa has a 20% chance to petrify an enemy unit for 3 turns. The petrified
unit can't move, attack, or retaliate but receives only 50% damage from creatures' attacks. The effect can be removed before it wears off by casting dispel or cure, or by dealing damage to the affected unit.
Petrification is a unique creature spell, and can't be cast by a hero. Unlike blind or paralyze, petrification isn't considered a mind-affecting spell, and it can target the undead, giants, titans, and elementals.
