Doing battle with a Mauler is an extremely thankless and exhausting task. These warriors are born fighters, and there is nothing they desire more than to be in the thick a battle, where the blood of the enemy flows in rivers. As soon as they go into battle Maulers are transformed into pure killing machines. Armed with maces, and able to move at great speed, they are guaranteed to shed plenty of enemy blood. And where other fighters would manage just a single blow, the Mauler can deliver two, meaning that the level of harm it inflicts on his foe is far greater.^OffBck

The mauler is the third-level upgraded creature of the Stronghold town in Heroes of Might and Magic V: Tribes of the East. Its basic version is warrior.

Compared to warriors, the mauler has more attack, defense, damage, initiative, and speed, but the same 12 base health. As such, without Blood Rage, despite their better stats, maulers are easily taken out. With sufficient Blood Rage, however, their survivability becomes much better.

Abilities

• Enraged - This creature's Attack increases during combat when any stack of friendly units dies (except resurrected creatures or creatures summoned on battlefield by magic). The increase is proportional to the killed stack relative power in the army.
• Raging Blood - This creature has a mix of demon and human blood that makes it subject to "Blood Rage" temporarily improving it's battle characteristics for aggressive behavior in combat.
• Assault - This creature has a chance to deliver another blow after the first one. The probability is computed after the first blow, and before the enemy's retaliation.
