"Finally, Tarnum returned to our world to find the Elemental Lords tearing it apart. But he came back a changed man. He no longer hated magic, but reveled in it. Power surged through his body. Like his enemy, he had become a master of all elements."
Masters of the Elements is the eighth and last scenario in Masters of the Elements, the third part of Heroes Chronicles.
Tarnum faces the four Elemental Lords, now allied against him. If Tarnum is defeated then all hope is lost, and the world is destroyed.OffBck
Tarnum returns to his homeworld to learn that thirty years have passed since he left, and the Elemental Lords have joined forces to destroy the world. As Tarnum takes up the fight against them, King Gavin Magnus sends his armies to aid him.
When King Magnus joins them, he hasn't aged a day over the decades, and Tarnum realizes that the king is just as immortal as he is. King Magnus reveals that he discovered his immortality during the battle of Steelhorn, when he somehow returned to life after being slain by Tarnum's behemoths. King Magnus wants to be a friend to Tarnum, but Tarnum finds him arrogant and unpleasant to be around.
King Magnus makes Hemoross apologize for his attempted rebellion, and forces him to learn about how the wizards of Bracaduun treated their barbarian slaves.
Barsolar and Tarnum depart as friends, laughing about how they used to treat each other, and they promise to see each other again - a promise that Tarnum knows he can't keep.
Once the Elemental Lords have been defeated, Tarnum frees all the elementals, and convinces the psychic elementals to remove all knowledge about how to reach the Elemental Planes from the minds of those who had travelled there - he feels that no one should be a master of the elements ever again, as that power is too much for anyone to wield responsibly.
Walkthrough[]
Tarnum has a Conflux and the hero Pasis in the center of the map. In addition, his three strongest heroes from the previous scenario have carried over with him.
There are four opponents. The Air Lord controls the northwestern corner, with a green Conflux and the heroes Brissa and Aenain. In the northeastern corner is the Fire Lord's red Conflux, guarded by Ignissa and Fiur. The Water Lord's teal Conflux in the southwestern corner is guarded by Lacus and Ciele, and in the southeastern corner is the Earth Lord's brown Conflux, and the heroes Thunar and Grindan.
East of Tarnum's Conflux, there are two neutral Confluxes that are lightly defended and can be captured quickly. The hero approaching the closest will be given an army of phoenixes before combat begins.
There is only one path to each enemy Conflux, guarded by seventh-level creatures. The enemies start out weak, so by attacking early, Tarnum can remove them from combat. Once all four enemies are defeated, the campaign is over.

Strategy[]
By heading far south from his Conflux, Tarnum can find a secret place where a large army of upgraded Tower creatures will join him, making the scenario significantly easier to complete.
