Master is the second scenario of the Rise of the Necromancer campaign in Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Shadow of Death.
Walkthrough[]
Defeat Ethric and all of his allies to win the scenario. However, if Sandro is defeated in combat, the scenario is lost. Sandro is limited to level 10 but will carry his experience, skills and spells on to the next scenario.OffBck
Continuing towards Deyja, Sandro has to face his old master, the warlock Ethric. Fortunately for him, a female wizard named Vidomina has joined Sandro and become his apprentice.
Sandro has to defeat three towns: two Ramparts and one Dungeon. Sandro finds Vidomina beautiful at first, but reminds her that necromancers have to remain alone and must not make deals with the living. To gain more information, Sandro dismisses Vidomina to learn more about their enemies, how many troops do they have and what magic they cast. However, a skeleton finds Sandro quite lovestruck by Vidomina. The skeleton earns a lightning bolt, for Sandro does not want to lose the confidence of his troops in his leadership. Vidomina replies to Sandro the Ramparts are allied to Ethric, once they heard what artifacts Sandro possesses. The dwarven tribes were at war, thinking the other one stole the artifact. However, Ethric explained that artifact is in Sandro's hands.
Sandro has to watch for Ivor and Malcom, his neighbors, who may strike at any time. In addition, they can access the tunnels. Fortunately, at the end of the tunnels, lie two one-way monoliths, which connect to Ethric's Dungeon. However, both are protected by black border guards, whose keymaster tents lie either close to Ethric's Dungeon or at the southern underground entrance. Should it be hard for Sandro to access the black keymaster tent, he can find the northeastern one-way monolith, which also connects to Ethric's Dungeon. There are additional two-way monoliths, but require the black keymaster tent to be opened. Those are the only ways to access Ethric's Dungeon, for he is protected by a purple keymaster gate. Also, Sandro can search for the northeastern red keymaster tent to unlock the dragon vault in southwest.
In addition, some paths or mines are protected by viscious creatures, like power liches, dendroid guards, green dragons etc. Before defeating the other factions, Sandro can visit the seer's huts. The western seer asks a level 10 hero, to give them +9 to knowledge. The seer in the east asks for the eversmoking ring of sulfur. The ring can be traded for a pendant of death, while the northern seer asks for a spyglass for advanced logistics.
Once all towns are conquered and enemies slayed, Sandro leaves Vidomina and goes deeper into Deyja.

Both Sandro and Vidomina have to be careful, for the enemy can pop out of anywhere. Vidomina could stay and protect the town, allowing Sandro to continue on and attack other towns. Sandro and Vidomina are limited to level 10, though Vidomina will not carry over to next scenario.
