The Mage is the basic magic class of the Academy faction in Heroes of Might and Magic IV. It starts with Basic Order Magic and Basic Enchantment. Its might counterpart is the Lord.

Lore

In the old world, Mages were most commonly aligned to the nation of Bracada, whose ruler - Gavin Magnus - upheld its legacy following the Reckoning. On Axeoth, Magnus attempted to assimilate the foundling realm of Great Arcan under his banner, but its Queen, Emilia Nighthaven, refused to merge with his kingdom. A lengthy war based around the inherent clash between the concepts of free will and true order thus ensued: Magnus was defeated.

Skills

The Mage has the following priorities to learn secondary skills:

• 4: Order Magic, as well as all of its related skills, have a priority of 4.
• 2: Death Magic and Life Magic, as well as all of their related skills, have a priority of 2.
• 1: Conjuration, Herbalism, Meditation, Pathfinding, Pyromancy, Resurrection, Scouting, Seamanship, Sorcery, Spirituality
  • Combat, Nobility and Tactics, as well as all of their related skills, have a priority of 1.
• 0: Chaos Magic, Nature Magic, Stealth
