"The Inquisition would tell you Liches are evil sorcerers who are twisting the laws of nature for their own gain. Yet I am a Lich myself, and it is the desire to have the time needed to comprehend the wonders and mysteries of Asha’s creation, to become a better healer, that drove me to choose Undeath."
Kaspar[1]

The lich is an elite creature of the Necropolis in Might & Magic: Heroes VII. Its upgraded form is the archlich.

It can be recruited from the Sepulcher. The Moon altar structure also increases unit growth by +6 per week, and the construction will interfere with the construction of a Deep catacomb, required to increase the growth of the lamasu and plague lamasu by +6 per week.

Higher ranking Necromancers are given a life-prolonging elixir that is milked from the venom of the Goddess's sacred spiders. This "treatment" turns them into Asakkus, or "Liches", their bodies desiccated but now freed from the passions of the flesh. They keep aging however, until they look little more than walking mummies… The venom mixture also colours their whole eyes bright green.OffBck

The lich is the only shooter in the Necropolis with a base chance to critical hit, but with low mobility. They attack with Darkness, which means they will be more effective against neutral creatures vulnerable to this element, but weaker against creatures with protection from it. Morale, like all undead, is neutral. They cannot be poisoned with poison spells and the ability of a plague lamasu, apply mind-affecting effects to them, and also reduce they are protected by the ability of a manticore. They also cannot be healed by the corresponding spell of the Light Magic, Light abilities, the ability of a dreamwalker and specialization of Kengi, as well as resurrected, nor can they be given the Light Magic buffs, making them less useful when playing as the heroes with Light spells, and especially when playing as the Haven. They are also vulnerable to Light spells and attacks. Moreover, the Heal spell will deal Light damage to them. They are also vulnerable to Light magic and attacks. But they have an advantage over the Necropolis enemy heroes and they cannot raise after the battle without the skill No rest for the Wicked. The lich have a standard melee attack penalty, so it is advisable to provide them with infantry cover.
