The hobgoblin is the upgrade of the goblin, the first-tier creature of the Stronghold faction in Heroes of Might and Magic III. It can be recruited from the upgraded goblin barracks.

While Goblins and Hobgoblins are slightly below average among the basic foot soldier units, they are quite numerous. They attack with spiked maces.^OffBck

Hobgoblins can function as support attackers, defenders, or cannon fodder. They are fast and strong, but with few hit points. Use them for pretty much anything, though they usually get decimated.

Notes

• Gretchin is a specialist in hobgoblins, and gives them +1 to Attack and Defense per hero level after first level. These creatures also get +1 to Speed.
