Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era (also known as HoMMOE) is an upcoming turn-based strategy game developed by Cyprus-based russian studio Unfrozen and co-published by Ubisoft[3] and Hooded Horse[4]. The early access release is planned for 2026.[3][1][2] The first public demo was made available on October 9, 2025.[2]

Story[]

The story of the game is set in the original universe. It will take place on the continent Jadame located on the planet Enroth.[3][5] It will be set before the events of Heroes of Might and Magic: A Strategic Quest.[5] Rival factions will have to forge fragile alliances to face the Hive — a swarm of insectoids corrupted by a demon lord known as the Dragonfly King[6] hell bent on subjugating the world.[3]

Gameplay[]

The game will feature a non-linear story campaign, multiplayer up to eight players, new arena multiplayer mode and random map generator.[5]

Resources[]

The game removes the resources introduced in Might & Magic: Heroes VII and returns to Crystal, Gems, and Mercury. However, Sulfur has been removed and a new resource called Alchemical dust has been added in its place, which is primarily used for upgrading spells, artifacts, and dwellings.[7] Rather than being gathered from mines, Alchemical Dust is obtained primarily by destroying artifacts and can also be gathered from the adventure map, at an Alchemist lab at the cost of 1 Crystal, Gem, and Mercury per 5 Dust or by a hero ability.

Additionally, there is another secondary resource called Law Points and Law Seals, which are solely used to enact Faction Laws. Law Points are gathered from the town's main structure each day and from heroes each time they gain experience, and are automatically converted into Law Seals once enough have been accumulated.

Faction Laws[]

Each faction features a set of special bonuses called faction laws, which are research options that can alter different aspects of the game. Laws can improve economy, strengthen creatures, or even change game rules. Laws are enacted by spending the required number of Law Seals, which is variable for each law. Some laws also have multiple levels that can be invested in to improve their effects even further. Laws are also divided into tiers: as more laws are enacted, more powerful options become available.

Faction Laws are bound to your starting faction. While towns from other factions will contribute Law Points, only the laws of your original faction can be enacted.

Focus[]

In combat, there is a new system for using creature and hero abilities called Focus.[8] Focus is counted in points and charges. Each time a friendly creature makes an attack or is damaged by an enemy, one Focus point is generated. Every six Focus points will grant one Focus charge, which is a resource spent to use many activated abilities of creatures and heroes. Up to 18 Focus points can he held at once, for a maximum of 3 Focus charges. Focus is shared among all friendly characters.

Factions[]

The player can choose from six factions to play:[3]

Creatures[]

The game will feature seven creature types for each of the six factions, with each creature capable of being upgraded into one of two upgrades. This brings the total number of creature types to 126, plus several neutral creatures.
