The Heretic is the Magic hero class of the Inferno faction in Heroes of Might and Magic III. Its Might counterpart is the Demoniac.

Heretics aim to harness demonic forces to their bidding. While they tend to train themselves with warrior skills, they must also know enough magic to control their infernal allies. Heretics can often be recognized by the number of protective wards and markings they wear to ward off demonic attacks.OffBck

When leveling up below tenth level, Heretics are most likely to gain spellpower and knowledge (30% each), and less likely to gain attack and defense (20% each). After tenth level, all four skills are at 25% each.
