Hammer Fall is one of the Free Cities that was originally a part of the Holy Falcon Empire but seceded when the empire converted to Elrath. Centuries later the city grew and became one the most famous and wealthiest of the free cities, which sometimes made it a target for the empire in its history.
History[]
Located east of the Holy Empire and north from the Lotus Empire, Hammer Fall was founded shortly after the foundation of Stonehelm, a tribe of worshipers of Ylath moved into the region and settled in ancient Shantiri ruins. They called their city Hammer Fall, because of its natural waterfalls and the name of their legendary leader, Douglas Hammer. Douglas was an illustrious blacksmith who found a way to integrate Dragonblood Crystals into his creations, thus founding the order of the Bloodsmith's, who would bless the city with wealth and fame.
Hammer Fall was briefly annexed by the Holy Empire but has since recovered its independence. Also the renegade yet kind angel, Murazel, made Hammer Fall her home and has protected it and its Shantiri ruins for years, eventually being called the "Guardian Angel of Hammer Fall". Today Bloodsmith's can still be found in Hammer Fall.
Independence[]
In 470 YSD the city state reclaimed its freedom from the Falcon Empire. Konrad Wolf, Tomas Wolf and Ymoril Redshield arrived in the city in defense against Serguei Griffin's troops. Konrad perished while delaying the attackers at a bridge in Trader's Bay, but Tomas and Ymoril successfully destroyed all the bridges that link into the city. From there, they met Ella as well as Murazel as they gathered in defense of the city. Tomas also forged an alliance with the Orcs under Bilashi, as well as getting the Tear of Asha in order to create a protective barrier to protect the city from outside attacks. There, they unleashed a counterattack and thwarted the enemy.[1]
Later, they faced the army of Empress Kyla herself. Serguei offered Tomas amnesty if they surrendered the city. Tomas refused, and Serguei brought his armies against Hammer Fall and the young Wolf. However, the defenders of Hammer Fall, with continued aid from the Orcs as well as from the Bloodsmiths, successfully repelled the Imperial Forces as Tomas avenged Konrad's death by killing Serguei personally in the battlefield.
