The halberdier is the upgraded version of the pikeman, the first-tier creature of the Castle faction in Heroes of Might and Magic III. It can be recruited from the upgraded guardhouse.
Pikemen and Halberdiers are among the strongest basic foot soldiers available to any army. While somewhat slow, they have respectable combat ratings.OffBck
The halberdier is a good improvement of the pikeman, with increased attack and damage, but the same defense and hit points, meaning it can deal more damage, but is no better at taking it. The increased movement means it's more likely to reach its opponent before succumbing to their attacks.

- Despite not noted in-game or in the manual, pikemen and halberdiers are immune to cavaliers' and champions' jousting ability.
