- For other uses, see greed.
"Representatives from both Tatalia and Krewlod seek your services... again. Both nations claim the last strip of Erathian land between their countries. Few Erathian castles remain in the area. They are nothing more than token resistance. The most ferocious battles will occur between Tatalia and Krewlod. Ironically, this land has little value. This is a border war. Tatalia seeks to further extend its reach from the lowlands to the hills. Krewlod wants to halt Tatalia’s march before it reaches their northern border. No matter which side you fight for, the other will perceive you as a traitor. Choose wisely. Choose the winning side. Your life depends upon it."
—Introduction
Greed is the final scenario of the Spoils of War campaign in Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Restoration of Erathia.
Walkthrough[]
To win, you must capture all towns and castles and defeat all enemy heroes. Regardless of which side you choose, the other will forever consider you a traitor.OffBck
With the resources secured, both Tatalia and Krewlod aim to clash to gain the last portion of Erathian land. Ironically, the land has little value, though the goal is to defeat the enemy side. No matter which side is chosen, the Erathian Castles must fall and the enemy side will brand the Commander as a traitor.
While Tatalia stands in the west, Krewlod prepares in the east, though both sides are locked and barred by garrisons, containing a lot of troops from Fortress and Stronghold factions. Once the sides manage to defeat the troops, they need to defeat the three Castles before fighting each other. Once a side defeats the other, the scenario is won.
Towns[]
- Castle x3
- Fortress x4
- Stronghold x4
Strategy[]
This is a much more difficult scenario than the previous two ones. The mines should be secured easily enough, as well as the dwellings near the towns. However, the heroes should get out as soon as possible, for the Erathian forces have the access to One-Way Monolith, which will transport them to the Fortress and Stronghold areas. Once done, the heroes need to secure the land and push out the Erathian forces. Once done, they need to recruit the forces for the enemy side, for, despite their disadvantage, they can recruit a lot of forces, given some time. There are also two islands in the south, which feature two gold mines on each island.
Notes[]
The heroes that were not chosen before the scenario will not appear in the enemy's ranks. Instead, that side will start with no heroes.
The cutscene for this scenario is played when you end the previous scenario. This possibly is a warning for player that picking premium means picking a side.
Overall, siding with Tatalia (Fortress) is sightly easier than Krewlod (Stronghold), mainly because much of the land is swamp, the worst terrain type in the game. Fortress troops have no problem moving through swamps, but other factions require heroes with expert pathfinding to move just as easily.
Trivia[]
This is the only scenario in campaign where you can pick side. Other maps have already choses sides for player.
