"Your swift elimination of those country lords almost makes it look easy. Perhaps next time you should slow down a little, just to give them a sporting chance! (chuckles) The time to prepare for the final attack against Roland has come. My advisors are of two minds: One is that we should focus our efforts on gathering the armies necessary to defeat Roland, while the other is to search for the Ultimate Artifact. Since you are the man in the field, what is your decision?"
Archibald's intro

Greater Glory is the tenth scenario of Archibald's campaign in Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Succession Wars. The player has to choose between this scenario and the Crown, and will either have carry-over forces or the Ultimate Crown in the next scenario.

Gather as large an army as possible and capture the enemy castle within 8 weeks. You are opposed by only one enemy, but must travel a long way to get to the enemy castle. Any troops you have in this scenario will be with you in the next.OffBck

Archibald Ironfist gave his commander with the choice between locating the Ultimate Crown or gathering an army. The commander chose the latter, and built up a large force to use against Roland's rebels.

Walkthrough[]

The hero Corlagon starts out in the southwestern corner, with the Nomad Boots and a mixture of warlock and necromancer creatures. There's also an unreachable warlock town on a nearby island.

The goal is to reach the warlock town in the northeastern corner, then build a ship and assault the enemy town. There are three paths: the Necromancer Forest to the east, the Barbarian Fields to the northeast, and the Warlock Wood to the north. The paths have three towns each, of their respective factions.

None of the towns will provide useful forces, so the best strategy is to head for the last warlock town and build up, getting access to dragons as quickly as possible. If the player chose to play the Dragon Master scenario, they have the dragon alliance, and should then seek out every dragon stack on the map to increase their army. With luck, they can gather quite the army in this way.

Once time starts to run out, Corlagon should head back to the warlock castle and wait for the final week, then purchase all the creatures available before sailing to the final fight against the enemy town. Keeping the dragons alive in this combat will make the final scenario easier.
