Gory Gordy is a character that appears in the A Pirate's Daughter campaign in Heroes of Might and Magic IV. He was Black Balfour's first mate.
Biography[]
Gory Gordy was first mate aboard Black Balfour's ship, the Black Death. One day, Tawni approached Black Balfour in a tavern, telling him that she was his daughter, that she was a pirate like him, and that she was looking for work. Black Balfour replied that he already had a full crew, and that she'd have to look elsewhere. Gordy wrapped his arm around her hip and told her that he might have a place for her, but she pulled out a hidden dagger and cut off his left earlobe. Gordy jumped to his feet, but as they both drew their swords, they heard Black Balfour laughing. Gordy realized that his captain wouldn't back him up. Black Balfour told Tawni to "Keep raising hell, girl," and he and his crew left the tavern.
Unwilling to take no for an answer, Tawni decided to sneak aboard his ship and hide in the cargo hold, emerging only when they were far at sea. Black Balfour slapped her face and called her foolish. Eager to take his revenge, Gordy suggested that they should hang her, but Black Balfour told them to throw her overboard. When they returned a few days later, she was still treading water, so Black Balfour pulled her out of the water, pressed her dagger into her hand, and told her that she'd have to make room in the crew before she was allowed to join. Tawni scanned the crowd around her, but couldn't see Gordy, so she instead threw her dagger at the closest man, who fell dead to the deck as she collapsed from exhaustion.
Years later, Black Balfour was killed by another pirate, so Tawni decided to take over his ship. Unwilling to accept any woman as the captain, particularly Tawni, Gordy waited until the day of Black Balfour's funeral, when she appeared to be unarmed. He attacked her right after the ceremony, but she dodged his strikes and asked him what had taken him so long. She told him that her father had always considered him dumber than dirt, and that the only reason he had been made first mate was that he was too stupid to mutiny. Suddenly, she pulled out two hidden daggers and killed him, telling her crew to throw his body overboard.
