"Erathia's military lies before us. It is time to make a bold strike. King Gryphonheart has trained their generals and knows their tactics. Morale will decide this battle. Morale is not a factor for the undead. Once we fill our ranks with their dead, our horde will grow and their morale will falter. Then we will swarm over them. Soon King Gryphonheart will rule Erathia once again."
From Day to Night is the final scenario of the campaign Long Live the King in Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Restoration of Erathia.
Walkthrough[]
To win, you must capture all enemy towns and castles and defeat all enemy heroes. Some Border Guards can only be passed if a Hero carries a Quest Artifact from a previous scenario, but the reward is great indeed.OffBck
Deyjan necromancers make their final move: an invasion on lands of Erathia. In short, the heroes need to capture all towns and defeat the enemy heroes to win. Since King Gryphonheart has trained his generals in life, he knows they rely on morale on their troops, which the undead forces do not.
There are five enemy Castles that have to be seized, each one guarded heavily by troops. Near some of them are the entrances to the underground, where some mines and Necropolis dwellings lie. It can also be used as a faster resort to go between areas. Depending on whether you have the Speculum or the Spyglass from the previous scenarios, it can be given to one of the two quest guards in the middle of the surface map, for the rewards are powerful artifacts. One of the quest guards gives access to a Cartographer, while the other gives access to a Dragon Vault.
It is possible that another Speculum or Spyglass spawns in this scenario as a random artifact, giving you access to both quest guards if you have the other one carried over from the previous scenario.
Once the towns have been defeated, the necromancers will be pleased at this success.
Towns[]
- Necropolis x3
- Castle x5
Notes[]
This scenario is only available by completing both Corporeal Punishment and Season of Harvest scenarios.
Strategy[]
There are three heroes allied with the Necropolis towns. The path to Erathia is guarded by some garrisons, though the troops aren't much of a threat. The true challenge, however, lies in the fact the enemy can gather powerful armies in few weeks, allowing them to crush strong undead armies. To counter that, the heroes need to guard their towns and must not buy all the troops, for sometimes the enemy might invade the Necropolis' lands. The general strategy is to switch offensive and defensive tactics until the forces can be gathered to wipe all enemy forces away.
Also, the difficulty for this scenario is Hard, allowing the enemy heroes to retreat more often.
