"Many respect King Boragus. Many feel he is one of the greatest rulers Krewlod has ever known. I do not know this king personally and I find his accomplishments unimpressive. If he is to earn my respect, he will do so only when he stands over my grave."
—Kilgor
For the Throne is the fourth and final scenario of the Festival of Life campaign in Heroes of Might and Magic III: Armageddon's Blade.
Walkthrough[]
You have three months to depose the king while keeping Kilgor alive. This is for the throne of Krewlod so do not fail.OffBck
The Festival of Life is reaching the conclusion. There is a final obstacle: the king of Krewlod, Duke Winston Boragus. Kilgor, despite knowing of Boragus' achievements, does not think he is worthy of remaining the king, so decides to dethrone him and take his place. Boragus, unlike Kilgor, starts with two towns, while one of Boragus' heroes has ease access to the third and fourth Stronghold. Unlike the previous scenarios, Gird, Oris and Gurnisson do not have to remain alive for Kilgor to fail. Instead, Kilgor has three months to defeat Boragus, or his conquest is over. Boragus, despite being honorable, sends threatening messages to Kilgor, who does the same.
Kilgor can access Boragus' castle by either visiting the blue keymaster's tent and going through the monolith in north-west or south-east, or defeating the water elements. The tent is located in the south-eastern part of the map, while the elements are on the lake in the swamp (to access them, the hero needs to use the Summon Boat spell). Once Kilgor has reached Boragus and defeated him, he stands on his throne, proud of the success and gazes on Boragus' severed head.

Strategy[]
Boragus has more towns than Kilgor, so Kilgor will have to act fast. The first step is to defeat the troops at the garrison (containing 60 hobgoblins, 40 wolf raiders, 25 orc chieftains, and 15 ogre magi). The second step would be to acquire the two Stronghold towns and take all dwellings. Third step is to defeat the enemy's two Stronghold towns and gain access to Boragus' castle. The fourth and final step is to build an army and attack Boragus himself. Note that Boragus' lieutenants, Terek, Crag Hack and Vey, are tough opponents and cannot be defeated easily.
