Might and Magic Wiki

"What remains of my father's undead army is the Necropolis where he resides. His last legions of undead are significant. I will join this difficult battle, but you will command the field. There is one more order you must follow without question. Lord Haart must not die. He is our traitor. We have confirmed the information the necromancers gave to us. Lord Haart was part of King Vilmar's necromantic cult. With Lord Haart's access to Steadwick, poisoning King Gryphonheart's food was a simple task. Acting on orders from King Vilmar, he sought to avenge the banishment of the necromancers from Erathia. I have special plans for Lord Haart."
Catherine

For King and Country is the final scenario of the campaign Song for the Father in Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Restoration of Erathia.

Walkthrough[]

To win, you must capture all enemy towns and castles and defeat all enemy heroes, without losing either Queen Catherine or Lord Haart. This is the final battle... good luck!OffBck

The heroes join on the field of battle with Queen Catherine and Haart. Together, they need to defeat the last of king Gryphonheart's undead legions. However, Catherine knows well Lord Haart is a part of the Necromantic Order, as he was the one who poisoned the king's food, allowing the necromances to raise him. Neither Queen Catherine nor Lord Haart must not be killed, though the latter will receive his punishment eventually.

The heroes start with a Castle, Rampart and Tower, which have some structures built. The enemy has two Necropolis castles, one of them being Stonecastle, a former Castle converted into a Necropolis. Both towns need to be captured to allow Catherine to return her father's soul to rest. Once accomplished, she and Lord Haart come inside his castle, fighting some skeletons. Catherine goes to slay him, but instead, she orders her troops to apprehend Lord Haart, her father's murderer. King Gryphonheart slays him, then his soul is brought to rest, as Catherine casts a holy spell, cleansing him of the dark powers.

Towns[]

Strategy[]

The enemy has two towns, which have most structures already built. There are two garrisons guarding the entrance to enemy territory. The western garrison has stronger forces stationed there, and it leads to a number of Necropolis dwellings that the enemy heroes will frequently visit. The eastern garrison is weaker, and it leads to both of the enemy towns, so attacking that garrison first is probably the best idea. There is also an underground passage connecting the two enemy areas. The eastern entrance is located behind the northernmost enemy town.

As for the heroes, Catherine already has good starting stats, so be sure to give her a spellbook and a good army. With that, she will be able to defeat enemy heroes with much larger armies before they get a chance to level up - however, be careful, as losing Catherine means losing the scenario.

It is possible to split forces and attack the enemy from both garrisons, then merge the forces for a final attack.
