"The brave heroes must now face Hexis in the heart of his corrupted domain. They have but four months to interrupt the final magical rituals he is attempting to perform before the damage he has caused becomes irreparable."

Final Showdown is the third and last scenario in The Gathering Storm campaign in The Gathering Storm expansion.

Walkthrough[]

The heroes, Bohb, Kozuss, Dogwoggle, Agraynel, and Alita Eventide, have four months to race north and defeat Hexis in his citadel before his power causes irreparable damage to nature itself.OffBck

The five heroes battled through hordes of Hexis's minions, eventually coming face to face with the sorcerer himself. Using their combined skills, the heroes managed to defeat him in battle.

Strategy[]

The heroes start out at the southern edge of the map, with three paths leading to Hexis in the north. To the west is the Path of Might, where they will face Gargantuans. In the middle is the Path of Haste, guarded by dark champions. To the east is the Path of Magic, populated by evil sorceresses. In addition, all three paths have hordes of goblin knights. Splitting up will allow the heroes to cover two or three paths, to gain the most artifacts and experience.

At the end of the western path, the heroes can find a Breastplate of Regeneration, a Neener's Invulnerable Cloak, an Adamantine Shield, a Soul Stealer, and a Dragon Cave where they can train Black dragons. At the end of the eastern path, there's a Tome of Chaos, Tome of Death, Tome of Life, Tome of Nature, Tome of Order, and a Robe of the Guardian, an Archmage's Codex, a Ring of the Elementals, a Scarab of Summoning, and a Magic Forest for training faerie dragons. The central path has nothing of interest.

At the end, the heroes will face Hexis himself, and the creatures under his command. He is a Demonologist, level forty, and immune to hostile spells. He has good Combat, Tactics, Death Magic and Nature Magic skills, and should be taken out quickly in combat.
